I’m back

Hello everyone,

It’s been a while. Last time I was on here, I was talking about the importance of routines. Well, it is fair to say I did not take my own advice. Nevertheless, recently I’ve been aching to get back to writing, so here I am. Now, with this new wind, I get to express myself and write about my 20s again.

I want to make no promises to you, the reader. Looking back, it seems unrealistic anyway to put a schedule on something that is supposed to be, firstly, for my own entertainment and, secondly, about my 20s. Your 20s are a wild ride, and so will this diary be. From now on, I will post whenever I feel like it and whenever I have something to report.

This is all not to say that routines aren’t important. I stand by the words I wrote in February, and believe it or not, I have many things that I have a tight schedule for. But this is not going to be one of them.

Okay, so first of all, let’s catch up a bit.

March was a blur, mostly still living with my parents and figuring out what I want to do exactly. Then, in April, things started to happen for me. First of all, nationality reveal: there was a huge election happening in my country that month, and I was busy keeping up with all the news and scandals of Hungarian political life.

Towards the middle of the month, a family on Aupair.com texted me saying that they would be interested in having me as their first-ever au pair. I was hesitant at first because I wasn’t sure that this was what I wanted to do over the summer after all. But I had a chat with them anyway, and they were lovely.

So yeah, the moral of the story is that I spent my time from the end of April until the end of August in the Netherlands. I will probably have some reflecting pieces on both the election and my time as an au pair, but just so you know, I think these four months were the happiest I have ever been.

No stress, yes, of course, some responsibilities, but mostly a lot of fun. Even while I was in it, it felt like a movie, and now, looking back, even more so. But again, I’m going to do a post just about that where I detail everything.

So, moving on. While I was living my married life in the Netherlands, I found out that I got into the Danish university I applied to. So, from July, my sole focus was on finding a room in the city of Aalborg. Which, after a while, I did, so now I’m here.

It’s nice and cute. I like it, but oh boy, Danish bureaucracy is not for the weak.

Also, I’m looking for a job here, and let me tell you, this is also not the easiest. Last week, I had an interview at a bar, so I’m hoping they will take me, but I’ve heard nothing back so far, so yeah. I did find a family to babysit for, so at least there’s that. But the problem is that the work won’t count towards the Danish SU grant.

I’m probably, now that I think about it, going to write a piece on the Danish system and how I’m feeling here — the good, the bad, and the ugly. So look out for that, because I’m Eastern European, so I have a lot to complain about already.

Anyways, I’m looking forward to writing more here and just discussing everything that I experienced over the last six-ish months.

Also, just a reminder: this is a diary about my 20s, so the nature of the blog will be just as unpredictable as my life is. Either way, I hope you stick around and read some of my posts anyway.

Love
